How do I start up a blog?
Creating a new blog on kidsblogs.com.au is free and simple. Just choose the relevant age group on the registration page where you will be asked for your email address (in case you forget your password). Little ones do not need to know the email address to login, they just need to remember their username and password. For example, username 'Rosie', password 'flower'.
Can everyone see my blog?
No. All blogs are set to private view. This means only you, the account owner, can see your blogs. Nobody else can see your blogs and you can't see others' blog entries.
Can I share my blog on Facebook or Twitter?
No! This site has an 'anti-share policy'. This enables kids to keep their blogs private and to have fun blogging without distraction and the potential threats caused by social share sites. Parents can also breathe a sigh of relief while kids blog away!
What is the purpose of kids blogging?
This is a fun and educational way for children to enhance their keyboard and mouse skills the 'old-fashioned way', pre-Facebook and pre-Twitter era. Children will learn and practice how to login to their accounts, how to add a new blog entry, upload images, save, edit and delete posts etc in a simple-to-follow and age-appropriate manner. And best of all they will have fun blogging! Think of it as making an entry into a written diary, although this site is not intended to replace the traditional diary, rather to complement diairising as an additional learning and development tool.
What information is in a typical blog post?
What I did today. Who I played with. Where I went. What games we played. What my favourite colour is etc. The youngest age group (ages 3-5) might practice the alphabet or type in gibberish while becoming familiar with the keyboard layout and use of the mouse, while the older age groups will develop their language, spelling and grammar skills.
Can I have photos and drawings in my blog?
Yes, you can upload up to 3 images per blog entry.
Can I see an example blog?
Yes. View example blog.
